Inspired by these rankings, a former correspondent for National Public Radio and self-proclaimed grouch, Eric Weiner, decided to visit and chronicle the happiest, and saddest, places on earth, leading to his book, The Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World.
